Frequently asked questions.

When should I start training with my dog?

There is no better time to start than now! Whether an 8 week old puppy or an adult rescue dog there is no better time than now to start enhancing your bond, creating structure, or fine tuning previous skills.

What style of training do you use?

Having experience in balanced and all positive training, Corinne likes an individual approach. She takes into account what is best for your dog as well as what will fit for your training goals.

Do you use training collars?

Yes, depending on your dog’s behavior and temperament training collars may be used.

What is a training collar?

A training collar is a tool (just like a leash and flat collar) used to communicate with your dog. These are to be used during training only and with the goal of transitioning off. Training collars include; martingale collars, fabric and chain slip leads, prong collars, and E- collars.

What is an E-collar?

An E-collar is a remote electronic system that is used to communicate with a dog on or off leash. You can not teach with an E-collar, you can only reinforce what your dog already knows. All training is performed with a leash and collar first before transitioning to incorporate the E-collar.

How is a training collar chosen?

Choosing a training collar depends on what your dog has already been worked with, their response, and their sensitivity/ understanding of leash pressure. As each dog is different, I start all dogs on a martingale or fabric slip lead and then work up in stages when I see fit.

What can I expect after training?

After training you can look forward to a clear line of communication between you and your dog. Communication is the basis of any relationship and with this allows your bond to strengthen.

Is training guaranteed?
